I was curious as to find out what other MA book readers thought of the book, "Living the Martial Way" by Forrest E. Morrgan. I won't express my views (I don't want to go either way...I'm more interested in the general opinion of the book among traditional budo-ka, however, I'd love to hear any opinions on the book.

I enjoyed the book very much. I learned a great deal from it. I view my martial arts journey as a warrior might.... not as someone interested in sport or winning a trophy to give me a sense of accomplishment.

it was an exellant book,i have read it 2 times and i always find myself going back to it for a refrence.i am with dragon,i have a warrior spirit, a great passion for the arts.i can care less of tournaments(but i do like the shiny prizes i get!)

I really enjoyed "Living the Martial Way". In particular, I liked his emphasis on recognizing the rationale or fighting doctrines that structure different martial arts, and how these approaches can effect their choice of technique, training and conception of the enemy.

Although it really only has Morgan's view of a warrior for obvious reasons, I thought Living the Martial Way was a very informative book. Morgan sounds like a very knowledgable person. I especially like the part about the Asian religions. In it, he says anyone who is a Martial Artist, is a Taoist. What does everyone think about that?

I feel that this is a very preceptive book that can guide veteran and begainer MA alike. I think it is a exellent contribution to the literature.

Taoist? I suppose it IS an aspect of the traditional MA and doubtlessly influances the traditional practicioner.

I agree, I have read this book several times and keeping coming back for more. I feel that it is definetly a must for all aspiring warriors even, MA's who are just in it for sport can learn from this book.

wow i really like this book, he expresses the correct mind set in the martial arts, which many dont have im not saying u!, the warriors spell book which explains some mysteries of the martial arts and what is real, a way to train and become a warrior,a martial artist is not a martial arist but a warrior instead. and some intresting quotes also.
