I was watching the replay of UFC44 the other night and I heard something strange. As Gene LeBell was walking out with his fighter, the announcers were talking about him and the things he has accomplished. Joe Rogan said something to the effect that "LeBell is awesome and if you don't believe it, ask Steven Segal because Lebell choked him out" (don't recall his exact quote, but I think this was it). Anyone hear anything about LeBell and Segal fighting?

Story I heard from someone who supposedly witnessed it is this: On set of a movie, Labell and Segal were doing some training demos. Labell had Segal in a hold.Segal pointed out that he could strike Labell in the groin and escape.Labell said no, you can't. Segal said yes I can.Labell said no you can't. Segal than attempted to escape after groin strike, Labell choked him out( as in unconscious).

Not surprising. Gene LeBell is the real deal and Segal isn't, it's that simple.

What do you mean Segal "isn't" the real deal?
Not arguing the point, I'm honestly asking. I know the man is an actor which as a general rule means "nowhere near the badass he plays on T.V." and i dont know what his ranking is but he seems to have a good grasp of his art, at least technically. I know that doesnt neccissarily make him a good FIGHTER..is that what you mean?

keep in mind Labell started training judo, wrestling etc. as a small child-he has currently something around 40 years experience.He should know what he is doing.

He is 7th dan, but I hear he doesn't really practice anymore so that may not be actually indicative of his perceived or actual martial capabilities. I wouldn't want to fight him though (but I'm sure there are lots of keyboard warriors out there that would say they'd take him on in a heartbeat).
