I second that. Seriously I wouldn't want to take on anyone. Steven Segal or not.

Internet Tough Guy is too easy to do and is more of a joke than the bully in real life.

Hey you guys forgot to mention the part about Segal $hittin' himself! Yep, he passed out then crapped his pants. It's an epic thing!

Segal had this habit of testing the various martial artist co-stars that were on the set with him. His favorite thing was to catch you off guard then groin kick you real hard when you were just standing there. He was, and is, an "A-#1 Joik Off, Dik Head"! He beat his two wives severely and he is a pathological liar. He beat Kelly LeBrock so bad that it ruined her face and modeling career. What a f-a-g!!!

Plus, he owned an internet company that stole lots of money from folks by offering videotapes of his life and training in Japan, and then never shipped them out. He was under investigation by the feds for racketeeering, too. I guess he was a lot like many of the villains portrayed in his 3 word title masterpieces.

He sucks, his tuite inspired Aikido sucks, and he runs and punches like a frilly beyotch. His size lets him get away with a lot of crap.

He is bald, fat and close to death. Why does death tarry so? Hahahahahahaha!

Not that I'm a fan of Segal at all, but damn man, what did he ever do to you? Bad actor, yes. Bad martial artist, open to opinion. Do I wish him death.... come on.

Can anyone provide links to information about the (alleged) spousal abuse?

Most everything else is a matter of opinion, but I don't think you will find anyone willing to defend that kind of behavior. A brief google produced much more noise than signal...

I thought his marital arts was called Hapkido, not aikido.

Yes Seagal IS/was(?) part of TENSHINKAN Aikido which is a branch of Aikikai but can you PROVE he beats on the ladies? Osensei was, I believe, a PROPONENT AND POWERFUL ADVOCATE of womens' elevation to higher ranks. If SS behaves this way, he's OUT OF CHARACTER as far as Aikidokas are concerned.

I always thought hat a rear augmented strangle hold, was inescapable unless your very much stronger than the Person applying it.
The actual application and “choke” should be instant, It triggers an autonomic reflex.

Of course if it is not “on” properly then it is defeatable. That would come down to bad technique or timing.

Im sure many will argue, but I have never had anyone escape they are instantly “ mine”

The charges against Segal were dropped. Since the incident happened years ago(about 7 or so ago) I only have vague recollections about it. Basicly an unscrupolous business partner caused the problems.

Spousal abuse rumors were floating around about first wife, never heard he beat Lebrock or ruined her face-especialy since she granted interviews after divorce, she still looked damn good to me. I thought the divorce was caused by his affair with the baby sitter.

I have never trained with Segal, but according to several interviews/articles by people who have they felt his techniques were quite strong and effective-Inosanto was quoted as saying he seems like the real deal.

My understanding of several of his promotions is that they were given for his service to aikido. Basicly through his movies and interviews promoting aikido. Not for technical merit.

Whenever someone becomes famous, people come crawling out of the wood work to spread gossip-attempting to tear them down or get attention. Take anything hinted at, rumored or gossiped about with a grain of salt.

I really like his MA movies but he got to fat. His earlier carrier he looked slim and in good shape, now he has to wear a coat or something to cover that big old gut in his more recent films. All in all I still like him.

Segal is an actor. The directors weren't even thinking about hiring him..he went to them and did an impressive scene so he got his first break.

I'm not surprised LeBell choked Segal out.<<What's so big about that?

Anyone can choke an actor out.
