I am a student of TKD WTF, white belt, been training for 2 months.
I've been stumbling on the problem of controlling my movements recently. Our teacher gives us a lot of self-defense training, but the moves it uses can have horrible effects. I as a beginner cannot control all my reactions yet and sometimes I react too swiftly and inaccurately and hurt my opponent in a way or another. For example, when practicing self-defence with wooden bars, I hit my opponent's head, when I should only be performing an immitation of the hit with understanding of the hand movement and position technique. I know that the TKD I'm learning is a full-contact sport and doing (and receiving) some harm is inevitable, yet I would like to attain more control over my movements, as the thought that I could hurt any of my training partners seriously is horrifying. How can I improve it?

Slow down, focus on what you are doing.
Trying to do the movements at full speed will cause you to mess up,hurting your training partner.

In other words, stop being a spazz!
