Later my friend, asked me what martial I am picking up now.I told her that I am learning Jujitsu. All of the sudden she said that learning jujitsu is waste of time and when it comes to street fight,it is not effective. Now i am in a confuse state. Which martial art is better, karateor Jujitsu when it comes to street fight.(my friend is a state squad karate exponent but nothing to shout about it)[/QUOTE]
Vicky,
either Karate or Ju Jitsu is good. Neither is best, but how you use it towards a perp is what is important. Okay lets break it down.
Karate, someone makes the wrong punch or kick and then open the area by striking your opponent, very hard very strict. It works.
Ju Jitsu, someone throws a punch, but then gets lanched by his or her own weight which is caused by a nage waza, following up on a shime waza or a kansetsu waza. So you think, jujitsu is like a virus, once you make your mistake, your are in it for the run, as the attacks will slowly take you apart.
Try your friend for example, have her throw a kick or punch, and then react by demonstrating a technique that she may fancy over. Try, I believe she will respect you more and your arts.
My friends and I spar sometimes with what they know and what I know.
