I'll try and keep this simple. I have about half a dozen instructors and they are all very fine people. I have two who actually run the school and are certified 4 dan. I admire the hash marks on the belt, but what I admire the most is how they explain the proper technique in a kick or strike. The other night I asked about the hook kick and one certain instructor explained it in a way that turned the light bulb on. I admire and respect these teachers for what they pass on to me, not lineage or trophies won. I watch some of the other students and notice that some listen better than others. You can bet that I listen very, very closely. My words of wisdom for you is to watch an instructor and then ask a tough question. Can he or she answer and enable you to see the light?
