Shinkin just means "real" or "live" blade--kinda.

What is your question?

What cxt means by live is sharp.

There is an article on Richard Steins Japanese Sword Index at http://www.geocities.com/alchemyst/shinken.htm

Hi Guys,

i am rather new to this but i recently grew a liking to japanese swords,(even thinking of taking lessons)
So i started searching the internet and found a site calles www.blades-uk.com.
Between brandnames like coldsteel, paul chen and last legend i saw the word shinken so i assummed that it would be a brand also.

i am thinking of buying a katane just for showing but i wanted to be a "real" katane.

so my question would be is : would this be the kind of sword i am looking for

thx in advance.

gr PP

If you want a real weapon that is good for training purposes but is ideal for use as a showpiece, look into iaito. They certainly look the part, are perfect as training tools, and are very low maintenance compared to shinken.
