Okay so what I gather is that while you can strenthen your muscles and flexibility training by yourself, your not going to get very far.So here I'm faced with a problem: finding a dojo.I live in the urbana Ill. area and as far as I know there are no dojos around here that teach any form of swordsmanship.Plenty of hand-to-hand classes but nothing with sword. So I was wondering if anyone had any advice on where I could find a dojd near me.Also if you know of a website that has links or locations of dojos then could u please clue me in.All help in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Closest I can think of are in Bloomington Indiana and Chicago. You might try searching the archives over at http://www.swordforum.com If nothing else post over there. There are a lot more JSA folks over there than there are here.

The only solution to getting some training if you're not willing to move/relocated to where a legitimate dojo is, is fly or ride the bus or drive out to attend a seminar of a legit sensei. Practice what they taught you and fly or or ride the bus or drive out to see that sensei as frequently as possible to get corrections whether it be in private or another seminar of his/hers. Other than that, move closer to where there is a dojo teaching legitimate sword art.

Hi Wraith

There appears to be a Shinkendo Dojo in Urbana. I have been a part of Shinkendo for alot of years and I find it a never ending challenge Which I enjoy very much. If you would like to know more. Check out Http://www.shinkendo.com . Here is the Urbana listing.

Iwanami Dojo
108 East Water Street
Urbana, IL 60801
Doug Moore Sensei
(217) 253-9308

Good luck in your search
