All in good fun, seriously.

Alright, I assume you have a picture on your computer.

Now, you need to have this picture hosted on the internet. This is a decent site. Sign up for an account and then log in. Click the "Photos" tab at the top of your screen. From this page, click "upload images". Select the images you want to upload, and hit "upload". This will add the file to their web page. The url to link to this picture is listed below the image.

Now, in the forums, type [ img ] image url [ /url ] (without the spaces in the image links), and vioala, one picture.

Yen, if you truly meant your snippy attitude as a joke, then you are clearly mistaken. It did not come across as a joke. Online there is no body language, no tone of voice. If you act like a git, then people will assume you are a git. If you are trying to be sarcastic, you need to say so. I'll let it pass as you really do appear to be fairly new to forums. And no I do not feel like sharing. Neither of mine look all that different than the pictures at Swordstore.

lol yen, i also have found that charlie has been very negative in his responces. he likes to devaite from the topic itself rather than participate. to get back to your topic, i have quite a few swords in my collection and will post some pics as soon as i can (let charlie be a sook cos he dont have a digital camera lol) but im more than happy to share with a fellow student. as i have mentioned i make swords myself, i also have quite a few reproductions from united cutlery that i got when i was younger, they are nice to look at but thats about it. but for test cutting and practice i have made my own swords (which have been APPROVED by my sensi thankyou charlie, lol) and so far they have proven quite good, stay tuned for pics of these swords. great topic by the way yen, you should be commended.

to cxt, no blade EVER looks like someone elses to the experienced eye, hamon, grain, steel type etc will ALWAYS be different, even from mass produced swords of CRAP quality, lol

Ah, kinda my point, viewing the differences in hamon, to actually get a REALLY good view requires a REALLY good pic, then a REALLY good scan.

And I truthfully don't have the time or inclination to scare them up.

So yes, without a quality pic and scan, those details would not "really" be all that noticable.
And even if you saw good one, that would tell you nothing about the real vaule of a blade, its weight, its balance etc.

At best you could look at its hamon and go "ooh" and "aahh"--and it still would not do justice to the blade--kinda need to see it in person for that.

I train with these items, don't stare longingly at them like some kind of anime fanboy.

For someone posting about "experinced...eyes" you don't seem all informed about swords.

Ok, chaps time out. Surely the tone of these posts does nothing but disservice to this forum.I think the actual topic is far too tame to inspire such strength of responses.
Yen, people are going to be a tad defensive when it comes to divulging info on a cracking good shinken. They are v.expensive and prized possessions. Its kind of like asking a stranger on line to tell you what jewelry they keep at home.It can sound alarm bells in less trusting minds.
Those who gave 'edgy' responses, maybe cut some slack eh? this is a community of people with a shared interest/love, lets try and remember that
In this spirit, I offer details of my humble blade. I own, train with, and love a paul chen practicle plus katana. It has many critics- I dont care. I have very limited means, and when my instructor moved me on to live blade training I had to use the Dojo loan sword during lessons. I love iaito and my enthusiasm was impossible for my family to ignore. On my 30th birthday, I was presented with my katana, purchased and given with love from my parents.I am not ashamed to say i cried.
I hope one day to own a lighter, stronger better balanced and alltogether more 'Hanzoesque' sword, wont stop me loving the Chen though. At the moment having a 4000 shinken would be like a learner driver owning a Maclaren F1.
Happy times to All. Cord.
