I've brought back into Canada swords from overseas, keep it in the bagage you check in; not you carry on. Do not lie about having it, and tell the truth about what it is you have in your bag.

if you have documentation about being a member of a martial arts club, bring it to show you have some legitimate reason for having a sword.

That's all, you shouldn't have any trouble if you follow all these steps

Well I have had problems with bringing Bokuto into Toronto and an over officious customs guy. I should have reported it. I pass that way again next May. If I goes smooth I will let it go.

I tried to be honest but he insisted I should have declared them as weapons.

Best of luck.
