If it was expensive i would hate to think what you were doing with it to make it snap. I guess it depends on what you call an expensive blade. If it is a 440 stainless blade and you paid a lot for it you may just be out of a sword, luck and your money. 440 stainless swords tend to run from $30-$100. Anything more than that you i feel sorry for you.

i would suggest getting a hanwei katana from prices are cheap. but seriously for cutting i would reckomend the pracktical katana.

How did you manage to 'snap' your sword? Since you determined to ask about repairs, you should'nt be apprehensive to describe what it was you were attempting when this accident(?) occured.
Too many times when things like that happen, it is due to negligent mishandling. If the sword was of cheap quality, say, a 'display only' model, and misused, it is only a matter of time before something happens like that.
