i have been looking in my area (ga) for japanese swordsmanship and i have found the art of shinkendo? could someone tell me if this is a good sensei and if you approve of this art. also is anyone lives in ga and knows of and iaido dojo please let me know

I'd say go for it. I don't know wh the instructor is at that school but Obata Toshishiro is a very good martial artist and swordsman. There are 5 certafied dojo's in GA, check the list on his web site to see if the one you are talking about is there. Don't let the fact that he was in the ninja turtle movies through you.

I can't seem to remember hearing of any koryu swordsmanship in Ga, and the closest I know of is in Nc. Sounds like Shinkendo is your best bet. While it isn't koryu, it is koryu-like from what I have read(no first hand experience) and is certainly not the style made up by Jimmy Bob down at the local McDojo who is basing his whole system off of what he learned from a George Dillman tape.

i am a student of shinkendo and aikibujutsu and i can say from my own experience that there is nothing like should try it
