Hello,
I was also LEO in Florida. I started out as a State Correctional Officer and then went to The Sheriff's Dept. Now I live in New Mexico and work for the Apache Gamming Commission as a Surveillance Agent.

hey eddie, that must be pretty interesting. do u get to walk around and try and catch people cheating at the cards or slots?
as an agent of the apache gaming comm. do u have arrest powers and such?
i train in shoot fighting to help me when i have to subdue suspects.
i bet working in that environment u have to wrestle up lots of drunks and such... Kel

Kel,
My job is to catch guest cheating, dealers cheating, workers breaking Gamming laws & rules, and any other criminal activity set forth by the Tribe, State & Feds such as theft, assault & battery, destruction of property, prostitution and etc..
I don't physically have to apprehend anyone, I call Security and they detain them and then a Gaming Agent reviews the tapes and decides what to do with them.
If it's criminal then Security puts them in the Holding Cell and the "BIA" Reservation Police is called to make the arrest and book them.
My unit is the most feared and hated because we don’t work for the Resort & Casino but the actual Tribal Council and we have to write up all violations which can get someone in trouble, suspended and/or fired.
Take Care, Teacher: Eddie Ivester

hey Z, good to hear from you! are u planning on being a d/s for a career or being a firefighter para?
my hat's off to you, being a jailor, i think THAT job is the toughest job around for ANY LEO!
stick with that paramedic goal, it will open lots of doors for u.
SILAT: that sounds like a really cool job. u sound like ur team is the police of the people that do the policing.
u have any good CASINO stories? Kel

I've been a reserve deputy in NC for 8 years and recently went for (and got) a part-time position. I've worked almost exclusively on patrol during my time. The county is mostly rural, but growing.

martinr,
i spent 5 years in patrol. patrol has created some of my worst and best memories of being a police officer. it also taught me more about the job (read: PEOPLE), officer safety, tactics, and anything else. it seems abything else i have done as a leo the ability has been developed from patrol.
