Yin and Yang are polar opposites. If we think in terms of circuitry Yin is negative and Yang is positive. Why is this important in Kyusho? When you touch positive and negative on a car battery you get a spark. The same principle applies with the human body.
Designations of Yin or Yang are made only in relation to each other. There are no absolutes. For example, the sun is bigger, brighter and hotter (Yang) in relation to the earth which is smaller, darker and cooler (Yin). However, the earth is more Yang in relation to the moon.
All meridians are classified as either Yin or Yang. The front of the body is yin, the back is yang. The left is yin, the right is yang. The top is yin, the bottom is yang.

yin and yang is great for beginners like myself because it is much simpler to understand than the five elements and the destructive cycle. it is also a great time to teach polarity which is connected to yin and yang or positive and negative if you will. for example...when you hit st-5 on the opponents left jaw with your right fist...you should (ideally) lift your right heal off the ground as this will switch your polarity...you can try it with heal down..then try it with a raised heal and you will see the difference in your opponents reaction. if your palm is used to strike however you should leave your heal on the ground as its polarity is the opposite of a fist...these examples are as if you were hititng the "same side" not meaning hit right with your right..or left side with your left...but like a "same side wrist grab" everything reverses if for example you are striking the same point on opponents jaw (st-5) on their right side with your right fist(opposite side)...you would leave your heal down..and if striking with a palm you would raise it.

Do you do any exercises to open the yang meridians and then the yin? Do you do any to alchemise the energy from Jing - Chi - Geng - Shen?
