I stumbled across this site the other day. My instructor didn't put any focus on this but as I begin to explore kata more deeply, I was wondering if anyone has viewed this tape and what they thought of it. Or, if anyone has viewed any other McCarthy tapes, or if anyone has an opinion on McCarthy?

Schane recently attended a McCarthy workshop. I think he would recomend His work highly.

I recommend his seminars. We (my instructor) owns the tegumi and seisan tape. We do a lot of stuff from them....

I am not sure since I have been to his seminars but our instructor uses a lot of what is on the tape...he says.

The Seisan tape has some good stuff on it, paticualrly grappling. At least I think it is the Seisan tape.

I 've been shown a few things by Mc Carthy, we sue the tapes, but I haven't watched them. All I know is some stuff he showed us and some on the tapes we didn't see at the seminars is practiced in class.

Anyway, I can offer you an opinion....he is a great resource. Anyone who doubts classical martial arts will be "visibly shaken" after attending a seminar of his.

I have been to one of Hanshi McCarthys seminars and seen the Tegumi tape. I recommend both.
The tape is set out well and is easy to follow.
Of course my Sensei also teaches this Tegumi Drill so I am at an advantage of learning it at the moment.
If you decide its not for you thats ok too.
I found Hanshi McCarthy taught his seminar in a way that is easy for most to follow. I sometimes have trouble picking up stuff in class, but managed well in the seminar I attended, he breaks things down into easily managed segments. So if you have an opportunity to attend a seminar, do try and attend. I suggest attending any seminar that interests you on your journey in the Martial
Arts.

I have all mccarthy tapes and i don't recommend it for those who don't like Karate and Kata ... if you like Karate and Kata they are a MUST HAVE thing! he teaches very usefull stuff in a very open way.
