The kata is probably introduced in Okinawa at the end of the 17th century, by one of the members of the chinese mission, Wang Xiu (wanshu in Okinawan)
Wanshu is a name. The movements of the kata ensure strories about the flight of a shallow. Not saying that this is incorrect, but rather inapropriate to the question of history.
