Find a partner definitely. Don't invest money in those grappling dummies because you need the resistance of a real human being to develop functional ability.

Now, an inflatable love doll shouldn't set you back too much. It's just not something you'd want anyone walking in to see you training with....

Whew! Imagine THAT sight!

training partners arent always readily available. sometimes before or after class i work on some stuff with other guys. now the "sex doll thing" (lol) in theory it aint a bad idea but im not to sure if i could explain it to my mother or girlfriend and have them understand.

Well if you know the thechniques already. You can practice them with an imaginary partner. But this only allows for the training of the motions and is in now way a substitute for actually doing against a resisting partner. BUt to get the mental blueprint down. You can do that sort of thing.

EXAMPLE.

While your watching tv simply go through the motions of rear naked chock/triagle chock. Over and over again. Thus making a mental blueprint.

Example of mental blueprint some times called by its other name, muscle memory.
Sometimes when you are driving out on a non work morning headed out shopping or what have you. You get daydreaming and end up on your way to work. When that is not where you intended to go. So martial arts should be trested the same way going throw the motions of and over again till it is like Wayne Gretzkys stick handling, it becomes like breathing. In stresefull situations, you mind will use these mental bluprints. When sparring don't think just act. This is what works for me. I don't think about it just happens.
