hi this is my first post on this forum but i have been browsing it for some time now.

I am 15 years old with a slim-average build. I have recently invested in a heavy bag and have been practicing some boxing combinations on it for around 2 weeks now. I feel i have a fairly hard punch, enought to do some damage but there is one small matter that i am very curious about.

Now,
i have never actually had a proper fight worth someone, not so much that i have had to hit them. I was curoius as to whether it hurts when you hit somebody. I have hit the heavy bag bare knuckle and it is fairly painful and just want to know how hitting a real person compares.

thanks

Just so you know, if you punch someone in the head incorrectly, you can break your hand. Use open handed strikes or learn old-style pugilism to do head strikes. I haven't personally punched someone in the head but like some of the people on this forum do now, I used to do bagwork bareknuckled until my hands bled. It's really not good for your hands, so don't try it. Get some gloves and learn how to punch right.

thanks for the raply. I do use gloves on the bag but there was this one time when i went bare knuckle on the bag until i bled. I was just wondering if somebody could tell me, when hit right what hurts more, a heavy bag or a persons chin, cheek etc.?

in a fight you dont feel it till afterwards.
thats when you realise that your bleeding and your girlfriends ran off.....but none of that matters.because you just won your first strret fight

Yes, it hurts-usually after unless you break something.

Your hands also swell afterwards.

Using open hand techniques can also cause bruising/soreness in the bottom part of the hand-don't notice until after.

like they've already said, yes it really hurts. what i do to solve that problem, is in my custom style, i use my palms for everything, to hit, block, catch, ect. anything just use your palms, it's padded well, and hurts alot less.and you can't break anything

You need to get proper instruction on how to punch. You can't palm heel all the time? Use hard against soft and soft against hard. You shouldn't be hurting them that much. It's not like they won't heal. Use tape or bag gloves, that should be all the conditioning you need. You sound like you're scared to death to hurt your little hands.

lol, i do hit the heavy bag when my hands are wrapped, i was just curious as to how it compares to bare knuckle when you hit somebody lol. As for open palm i can see that hit hurts (*hits himslef*) so i will try that also if a situation arises.

thanks again guys
