Be able to move in and takedown. His height advantage disappears but the problem is getting in and under his offensive or defensive counters. And he may be gifted on the ground also but I think your chances are better on the ground then him raining blows on you before you are in range to counter or start an effective offense.
I fought a 7'2 figter and he could jab me out a my kicking range. I had to duck under his jab or 1-2 attack and spin in with a back kick as he slide across the floor, I plumened him with strikes mounted and subdued him. He was like fighting a giant very strong to be tall, muscular and lanky.
In a sparring match with a 6'6 fighter I tried the same counter the kick worked but as I tried to mount him, this guy was like fighting a octopus, he kicked, tripped, and tried to triangle choke me with his long swiney limbs. He really put the hurt on me on the ground, I started waiting for him to stand before I attacked, using sweeps and grabs that lead to kicking and strikes. This guy was very good on the ground, he was also double jointed and alot of my arm locks, didn't work.
