6'5" is regular height, 5'11" is like a dwarf
Sorry, I am 6'4", so I couldn't resist.

Learn to close the gap by working angles, develop a decent guard, learn to counterstrike and move in.

5'11 a Dwarf??? you been drinking mate?
im 5'9 and 17 years old, i dont know if you notice but some of the best boxers are under 5'10 it only goes to 6 foot when you reach middel weight.
http://www.halls.md/chart/men-height-w.htm
Average height for a white male is 5'10 just scroll down the link.

anyway the best way to beat a tall apponent is to body bash them, and to come under with uppercuts. If your shorter than you opponent you do have many advantages.

If you ever whatch boxing matches and you see a short guys vs a tall guy, u can bet that the tall guy gets his ass kicked. i.e. watch "Miguel Cotto" fight the tall guys.

I have had a few fights myself and my coach always tells me this: The taller they are, the goofier they are, The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

I guess you should close the distance and go low. By that I mean, stand low and strike low. Don't bother going for the head. Kidneys, Solar Plexes, knees, Sweeps, etc. Knees especially, bad for anyone, but for someone who weighs a bit, very very bad. A being shorter makes them an easy juicy target. Be warned though, the fight better be serious, a good hit to the side of the knees can have someone never able to walk properly again for the rest of their life. Use your common sense and morality to decide if its jusitified. A kick to the back of the knees can cause someone to collapse without too much permenant damage but be careful to aviod the above situation.
If you can, throws. If somebodies taller than you, it means there centre of gravity is above yours, which you can use to your advantage. You could also use grabs to pull them off balance.
There are all sorts of things you can do. Being shorter can accaully be a big advange in some ways (granted a disadvange in others).
By the way I'm 175cm (about 5'10, I think) and thats average height for caucusian males, so you are not short.

Wow, you short folk sure are sensitive.
I am sorry being cruelly snubbed by nature has made you bitter. (Again, I am kidding)

Taller means greater reach.
You have to learn to be able to get in your striking range without getting picked apart. This means working angles-They are not going to just stand there and let you close.

Hey, 5'11" is tall...6'5" is a giant! I'm 5'5" so fighting tall people is the norm for me...not the exception. I use my height, or lack of same to my advantage and work very close and low. Come in under their punches and attack the knees, groin, solar plexus, etc.
Typically smaller people are quicker as well and that additional speed is another advantage we can use. I will also parry and work the angles. Plus, my low center of gravity makes take-downs easier on taller people. To be honest I'd have a harder time fighting someone my size since I don't get the chance to train against them.

Short people have an easier time aiming for the most sensitive and painful male area.

I'm 5'11" and that seems to be just under average height where I live. There are plenty of people shorter too.

Besides, it's not what you've got; it's what you can do with what you've got that's important.

A myth spread by those cruelly slighted by nature, frankly those of us who have been blessed are sick of this disinformation
