Yep. Don't use defensive motions because we ALL know that defense sucks.

Unless of course you're fighting someone who has some skill, in which case you "might" need some defense.

In that case, learn boxing which has HANDS DOWN, the best defenses to punching that you can come by.

best block, dont be there. If you must block use limb destruction, such as lift your elbow into the line of attack. Only use methods then are both defensive and offensive. if you can't counter fast enough and must block redirect and damage. I went with karate and boxing methods. Karate good for limb destruction and boxing good for immediate countering. Ethier methods defenses are fine

Step by step guide to blocking:

Step 1: Go to boxing gym.

Step 2: Sign up for lessons

Step 3: Spar.

So why practise it as a block?

#101799 - 03/06/05 11:35 PM Re: How to Block

Blocks are after the fact to moving. Doesnt matter how good the block is if you dont move out of the way, your gonna wear at least some of the strikes coming at you. Not being there is the only sure defence. However blocks can be used offensively and for trapping and grabbing so they're not completly useless. Just don't rely on them.

Why block at all? Especially against a stronger opponent?

Bruce Lee said one should never block. Instead you attack the incomming strike. Though this takes some time and practice to achieve. Best just learn to cover up for now. Basics first.
