Mine? Right cross. Scientifically? A lead hook. Unforunately for me, my power hand is my right and im orthodox, but im working on getting my left hook stronger.

It depends on whose throwing the punch. Some people can hook better than throwing overhand punches.
If I HAD to choose I would opt for a right hook to the jaw.

What is a "waveform" strike?

A waveform strike is a relaxed strike that generates enormous amounts of power, and smashes into the body like it was on fire.
It involves no wind-up, no chambering, it's the opposite to a gyaku-zuki, no hip movement etc. You just use your entire momentum to strile, like a wave crashing onto the shore.
I haven't explained it very well, perhaps a member of the DSi could give a better explanation.
All I know is I've never felt anything like it, and only at 10% power. I wouldn't want to imagine being hit with one full strength, on a PP, with full intent and projection. Phew!
Mark.

Don't hold me to this but i'm pretty sure under optimal conditions its a reverse punch.
reason is entire bodyweight and momentum can be placed behind it - as well as rigid support structure (shoulder - torso - hip - straight alignment)

double hip, backhand, over hand straight right. with a little angle to target.
On a good day i can knock over a free standing punch bag with a properly set punch like that.
Do a web search for Peter Consterdine. he is unreal.
I do like a short tension wing chun punches, as it is much more likely to "get in." In the end once you can do all punches with the speed, power and accuracy needed to take someone out, it is all academic. Would hope to take an opponent out with a lead hand jab really.

I agree, the reverse punch is the most powerful punch when executed correctly with hip rotation.

Right cross or Left or right hook.
Right cross bc of least execution time.

I vote for the hammerfist. Not only do you have arm, shoulder and back muscles and the required body mechanics working for you, there's also a little thing called gravity that helps with the acceleration.

I wonder how many of you have tested these opinions conclusively?
Or are these techniques the punches that YOU do best, which of course doesn’t mean that they are the most powerful punch. Merely YOUR most powerful punch.
Surely to be able to state what is the most powerful punch, a person needs to be at least competent in executing all the variants?

Indeed, an excellent question. I've consistently broken more boards with a hammerfist than with a palm heel, shuto or reverse punch. But your point is well-taken, and would apply to any technique. Each individual is different, and the hammerfist works best for a short, 50-year old mesomorph like myself.

Hands-down the strongest punch is an axe-handle (putting hands together, NOT interlocking fingers, and using all your weight to come down on opponents neck/back). It is also almost impossible to use. For practical application, I'd go with the reverse punch. It usually catches people off-guard and has all your momentum behind it.

with all the fingers interlocked?!
A bit too slow too be all that powerful surely?
Also little hip drive, or shoulder rotation.
But it works on TV i suppose...
