I had my first tournament today. I placed 4th.....out of 4 people.

In both forms and sparring, too. I had fun though.

Heh. At least you got out there and tried. If it makes you feel any better, I NEVER won first place in all the years I did open tourneys. One time, I came in last place - in MY OWN SCHOOL'S open tournament - in black belt forms.

But at least I met some cool people from other schools.

Ya know Storm, the biggest thing is that you tried. The first tournament is always the scariest. It's done and over with. Learn from your mistakes and make improvments accordingly. There will be others, I promise!

At least you did it.

One thing that I told myself before my last tournament is if I don't compete, I will never be able to compete in that tournament again. I don't mean that they won't have the same tournament next year, I mean that on that particular day and time, I will never be able to make it up if I miss it.
