50$ to compete?

hi all i was looking at the gold cup circuit sf tournament and at the bottom of the page it looks like it is 50
$ to compete.

am i reading this wrong? that seems a bit expensive

$50 is about standard for comps in the US.

Sounds pretty standard to me, most that I have entered start at 45.00 and then goes up.... I average around 70.00 for each one that I enter..

the bay area has some real nice sanctuned tourneys, pre-register and you'll get some good bargains...

Often open tournaments are more expensive than closed ones. This is to cover extra costs due to advertising to a wider group and extra insurance cover.
