Kyokushin Karate - 09/11/04 01:30 AM

I'm not very familiar with martial arts but I know that a few schools are just black belt factory's. I have visited a Kyokushin school near my house and the intructor is very friendly and has no contracts and said I can try several classes for free. Anyway, my question is this: How is Kyokushin as a form of self defense? I've read about it on the internet, but of course the websites are going to say how amazing it is. Any opinions? Are the techniques realistic? Do they take far too long to be able to use effectively? Thanks for you feedback.

i supose it depends on the teacher, but from what i hear kyokushin in general is quiet reasonable for self defence. Just to make sure though id go take those free classes if i were you, if its what your looking for stick with it, if its no then find a new club/school.
