This is a start. We "had" a air shield bag that would dititally monitor 1-10 when you kicked it...but I broke it last month, Sensei wasn't to happy.

I assume you are thinking about something like Rocky IV. That type of equipment is really expensive I think the Kineseology department in a big State school might probabally have some of that stuff. The problem is calculating all the variables, if you push slowly and strongly it needs to register different than if you punch quickly. You really need an expert making adjustments based on timed readings of how fast you punch as well as taking video measurements of the impact surface you punch with. You need to also be able to monitor the exact amount of time your fist stays in contact with the surface, so really it is a matter of putting a whole bunch of different measurements together to come up with one calculation. To get a relatively innacurate measurement of your punch power there are some devices that push out air based on total force but not divided by surface area or time if you punch the same way each time they should be able at least tell if you are getting stronger.

This might sound off but I have seen those type s of machines at carnivals and video game centers. Are you curious how many pounds per square inch you can punch or kick?
