Finding an instructor - 05/03/04 02:27 AM

Hey all, I'm pretty new to this forum, and to martials arts really. Ive read many posts and I've seen people saying to find an instructor, and Ive seen offers of help finding an instructor.

Well, I live in Vermont, I'm currently living in burlington, vt. I found a place called the vermont kung fu academny taught by Arthur Makaris. He teachers northern shaolin praying mantis. However, he is also a student in Yin Style Bagua Zhang and teaches what he knows to his students. The teacher Xie Peiqi actually visited the school twice I believe but I think he passed away recently? There is a website if you wanted to look at it... http://www.vermontkungfu.com/introduction.htm

Anyway, I guess what I'm asking is, is this a teacher that you would reccommend to begin studying in the internal martials arts? And if so...should I study the praying mantis and the baguazhang or just one?

Thanks much for any advice.
