Tai Chi for every age and ability - 09/03/09 03:48 AM

What can keep you flexible, strong, healthy into your later years? It's the ancient martial art, Tai Chi. It's slow flowing movements stretch and strengthen muscles, improve balance and coordination and increase overall wellbeing.

When we age, joints can become stiff and painful, and we can lose strength and agility. Tai Chi can help us stay limber and active.

Tai Chi is known as "moving medition". It can be practiced alone or in groups. There are "forms" which, when put together in a flowing sequence, look like a slow graceful dance. The deliberate movements require concentration and balance, with an awareness of breath. Practicing tai chi also develops posture and stamina.
