A Shiatsu Treatment Vid... - 11/13/07 05:42 AM

Posted this in a thread in PP's, but I thought it deserved it's own thread and here seems like a good place. This guys Shiatsu is very similar to the way mine is developing, obviously he is much more experienced practitioner. I love his flow and explanations, and great example of good solid Shiatsu:

This is very good. And should probably be watched by all who train in Asian Martial Arts.
I learned Shiatsu as part of my Hakko Ryu training. I now teach Aikido and am trying to encourage my Aikido students to learn pressure points. Shiatsu is probably the best way to learn that. Plus you are learning to heal the body as you also learn to damage it.

The value of learning Shiatsu to complement one's Aikido (or any Asian MA) is immensely more than just pressure points. I see parallels in the way Shiatsu is applied and how Aikido technique could and should be applied - i.e. centeredness, use of the ground, body weight, hands connected to hara, tactile sensitivity, body awareness etc. etc.
