Stretching for Judo/Grapplers????? - 09/22/03 04:25 PM

I have been told that stretching is good for Judo, but I don't really seem why. Also, if this is indeed true, what are some good stretches for this, and what type are needed??(static or dynamic, though i don't see how dynamic really applies!!!!

Well dynamic applies because you move don't you!!

For dynamic stretches for judo I would do arm and leg swings as well as dynamic stretches for the spine (to prepare for all the rolling about!).

Leave the Static stretches until afterwards and depending on your age and fitness you might want to throw in isometric stretches after each work out before passive stretches, this will strenthen your body in stretched positions making you a harder target for submissions.
