Seems to be Pertandingan, i.e. the full contact, competitive side of silat. It is interesting to see ( I certainly hadn't seen it before). I will try and find some rules for Pertandingan, so the clip will hopefully be easier to assess.

Enjoy meantime.

There were aspects in there that were very reminiscent of hard contact TKD. It looked like no head shots were allowed. Some cracking good front kicks and leg traps/takedowns in there

Pretty cool. Some good hard kicks in there. I liked the leg-scissor take-down, too. Reminds me of the SanShou kickboxing I did a while back.

Phew! It was tricky but I managed to track down the rules for competition. They are here: http://www.silat.be/oldsite/Engels/competition.htm

Basically, the scoring areas are the Chest, Belly, Back & Ribs. Cord was right, it doesn't seem as if head contact is allowed.

You can attack with the hand, arm, elbow, foot, knee & leg.

Sweeps, throws, takedowns, trips are allowed (in fact you get a big score for doing so, but only if you take the opponent down).

KO's are allowed, as long as they are by a valid attack.

The rules are far from comprehensive, but they are a solid foundation.

Just FYI.

The word "Pertandingan" is a general term meaning a sporting 'competition / contest' of any kind and not specific to silat. It certainly does not denote any particular style of silat.
