Your top 5 movie villians - 04/13/07 01:53 PM

As I sit here hopelessly entrenched in work, knowing that I can not leave here until it is complete, I think of vile and inhumane things to do to the people who have cursed me this way. As I was contemplating the ways through which to extract my revenge, the thought occurred to me of whose example should I follow?

There have been quite a few really devious, cruel, maniacal villians in moviedom (sp) so choosing the best will not be easy for some. I personally know mine right off the bat.

1. The Operative - Serenity: A cold, unnervingly calm killer with strong martial arts skills and a focussed belief that killing you will make this a better world.

2. The Terminator - Terminator 1: Nothing short of killing it approx 7 times would stop it. Every time you thought it dead, it rose from the ashes again to simply keep coming to kill you.

3. Darth Vader - Star Wars Trilogy: Nuff Said.

4. The Joker - Original Batman movie: Jack Nicholson at his maniacal finest. Jack (The Joker) made murder fun again, lol.

5. Pinhead - Hellraiser Series: Not a big horror movie fan but of the ones I have seen, this Basetard scared the big jeezes out of me. Merciless, cruel, brutal, and calculating with a touch of manipulation and deception.

(Honorable Mention) Darth Maul - Star Wars Phantom Menace: Original double ended light sabre bad boy with serious martial skills. Didnt talk you to death, just kicked your monkey a$$, then stabbed you through the heart. Gotta love it.

Have fun with this.

1. Darth Vader - Star Wars (no description necessary)
2. Agent Smith - The Matrix

I've always been interested in AI wanting to kill humans.

3. Bill - Kill Bill

David Carradine just makes this guy so cool.

4. Patrick Bateman - American Psycho

This guy is a monster, but something about his rants are cool.

5. Romero-style zombies - Too many to list.

These guys don't waste any time.

GOLDFINGER: Anyone who can come up with that line

"Sho Goldfinger, do you ekshpect me to talk"

"No Mr Bond, I expect you to die!"

DARTH: The man, without a doubt.

The guy from SAW : "Let's play a game"

Hannibal: Can you ever drink that wine again?

And definitely her from Misery, cos you better believe in cockadoody Mr Man, that scene with the sledge hammer...

Re: Your top 5 movie villians - 04/15/07 04:45 AM

Definitely a hard one and many I'd agree with. How about:

Mr. T - Clubber Lang - Rocky III
Margaret Hamilton - Wicked Witch of the West - Wizard of Oz
Robert Newton - Captain Long John Silver - Treasure Island
Jack Nicholson - Colonel Nathan R. Jessup - A Few Good Men
Alan Rickman - The Sheriff of Nottingham - Robin Hood Prince of Thieves

Does this tell you my age? The last one Brian Adam's song was my wedding song ... "Everything I do I do it for you" in 1991.

I like the head trippers when it comes to the ”Bad Guys.” You know the ones that are so good at what they do or the ones that make you want to cheer for them even though you know they lack a conscience, or like some they become trapped in a pit of their own making. But then I’m a firm believer that in a society of saints there will still be sinners.

1) Brad Pitt – Francis Austin McGuire (A.K.A Rory Devaney) - The Devils Own – He made me want him to win.
2) Josh Hartnett – Hugo Goulding - “O” - He was one twisted sick puppy, but then thats Shakespeare for you.
3) Matt Damon – Tom Ripley - The Talented Mr. Ripley I’m pretty sure he was a true sociopath among other things.
4) Rudolf Martin – Vlad Dracul (A.K.A. Vlad the Impaler) - Dracula: The Dark Prince – He showed the good and bad is subjective to the times.
5) Presley Chweneyagae - David (A.K.A. Tsotsi) – Tsotsi - He was a very bad person in every way but he still had enough heart to try and change in the end. And that was his downfall.

Re: Your top 5 movie villians - 04/16/07 05:33 AM

Ooh, tough one. I shall restrict myself to villainous types not yet mentioned.

Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) - Die Hard. A man with a plan.

Stansfield (Gary Oldman) - Leon. Clearly not quite right.

Sgt. Bob Barnes (Tom Berenger) - Platoon. Not a classical villain, but a total swine.

Casanova Frankenstein (Geoffrey Rush) - Mystery Men. Just because.

Count Tyrone Rogan (Cristopher Guest) - The Princess Bride. How marvellous.

An honourable mention goes to anyone played by Cristopher Walken. I just can't bring any specifics to mind.

Re: Your top 5 movie villians - 04/16/07 05:37 AM

Oh fooey, you went and reminded me of the Walken, then that in turn has reminded me of Hopper.

I am trading the predator and freddy Krueger for Vincent Carcadi (Walken- true romance) and Frank (Hopper- Blue Velvet).

1) Jaws. I lived in Kansas at the time it came out. And, at 10 years old in 1975, didn't want to swim in a fresh water lake.

2) Hannibal in Silence of the Lambs.

3) Norman Bates in Psycho

4) Hans Gruber in Die Hard.

5) Hal in 2001 A Space Odyssey

Re: Your top 5 movie villians - 04/17/07 02:23 PM

I forgot all about Hal. That whole scenario was unnerving. You can at least attempt to reason with a Psychopath but a machine is pretty much set in its ways, so to speak.

Re: Your top 5 movie villians - 04/19/07 11:44 AM

I was looking more at their intelligence and cunning rather than the ferocity. They were sneaky little basetards who hunted in packs. Patient, smart, and deceptive killers who let you think you had them until they ripped you apart. Kind of like any ex-girlfriend you have ever had, lol.

- Barnie the purple dinosaur
- Teletubbies
- Miss Piggy
- Statler (critic 1 on the Muppet Show)
- Waldorf (critic 2 on the Muppet Show)

All very evil villains in their time.

Re: Your top 5 movie villians - 04/20/07 05:50 AM

All on this list scare me.

Are we looking for villains in the traditional sense (twirly handlebar moustache and evil laugh), or any antagonist in a film? I wouldn't call dinosaurs villains, just hungry animals. The chap who shut down the fences was a villain, albeit an incompetent one.

Re: Your top 5 movie villians - 04/20/07 07:22 AM

It is open to your interpretation. Anyone or thing that plays the heavy or "bad guy" in a movie is elligible. For example, the car in "Christine" was not your typical villian but it was evil and it was a killer. Use your own motivation as to what qualifies.

Re: Your top 5 movie villians - 04/28/07 07:26 PM

It was disturbing.

Obviously inspired by the shootings at Columbine, the director, Gus Van Sant, put the audience in the same position that the onlookers to the massacre in Littleton were in. We watch this thing unfold and are left wondering, why did this happen?
