Chess boxing -- apparently been around for a few years (!) World chess boxing organization was founded in 2003.

Reminds me of the winter biathlon, where people have to ski cross-country for miles and then relax their breathing enough to hit a target with a rifle. That one started as an exercise for Norwegian soldiers.

Why not judo/'go' combination? Swords/archery? What do you think -- would it just impoverish both arts or promote real mixed artistry?

LOL, my niece told me about this a few weeks ago. I had a hard time understanding it - "you do boxing, and then you play chess?"

I had never heard of it, and couldn't believe that she was interested, but there is a tradition of practice hematoma in my family.

I have never played chess, so I couldn't speak to the dilution, or lack of, in the arts as a result of this.

Lol lol, yeah I saw a clip on the tele. And it wasn't April Fool's day! Sounds like a fun idea though. I like chess, I like fighting, do both!

Maybe the idea could be expanding:
