not that i'd enter, but i'm curious, how would a canadian gain the status to be legally allowed to live and work in the us?

you just apply for a short term work visa. Chances are the UFC would help you since they most likely know exactly how to apply for one.

Every time GSP fights in the US I'm sure he has to have a visa.
