Green belt test - 04/05/11 10:11 AM

We had a couple of students ready to test for their green belt this last weekend. It's more of a formality that a test. They had already attained the knowledge and ability.

Here's some photos and videos and your feedback is welcome.

During the sparring they were instructed not to kick to the legs ot do any groundfighting.

From left <<< to right. Matt, me, Vincent, Randy, and JR.

We have more students and a bigger school in Ft.Smith, but today some of them came up to 144:1.

I don't know if he was kicking, or got knocked off balance, lol.

White belts, going at it!

What's the difference between American Goju Ryu and Japanese/Okinawan Goju Ryu?

There's no Ryu.

It's just Goju, it's just fighting, it's just what works for us.

We aren't connected to any high class ryu or political BS structure. wink

I just viewed your post. It warms my heart to see white belts getting after it. Lets hear it for the green belts(that includes me)
My class is Sho Rei Shobu Kan Goju Ryu in Columbia Mo. It's great to see Goju in any form. Keep up the good work.

Sorry Brian, I haven't visited the forum since my last post.

I was wondering how the programme was build up?
What excercises, kind of kumite etc. did you include?

we do a lot of knuckle push ups and various excercises to condition. We also punish our arms and legs to condition them.
The sparring (kumite) was mild, but we made solid contact. It will get more realistic as we go along within the realms of safety.
