Help with some pronunciations - 10/04/05 08:13 PM

I'm reading the book Living the Martial Way, and I was wondering if I could get some help on pronunciations of some words, mostly ones found in the chapter, "The Warrior's Spell Book." The words are:

Kiai, Aiki, haragei, kokyu chikara, and kime..... I think thats all, there could be more. I just want to make sure I'm pronouncing these wrongs. I also wonder what people's opinions are for those who have read the book? I think I'm on my 4th or 5th time reading it, I find it very interesting, but I really want to be able to fully grasp alll the concepts explained, which I'm finding rather difficut. Especially things such as zanshin, mushin, happo zanshin, and other things.

Japanese is a very easy language to pronounce. There are no "I before E..." rules. Letters are always pronounced the same like so:

A sounds like "Ah"
I sounds like "Ee"
U sounds like "Oo"
E sounds like "Eh"
O sounds like "Oh"
G is always hard

so...
> Kiai sounds like "Key-eye"
> Aiki sounds like "Eye-key"
> Haragei sounds like "Harah-gay"
> Kokyu sounds like "Koh-que"

get it? No do the rest yourself.
