Anybody here involved in WW2 Based Combatives? - 04/18/17 10:42 PM

New guy here!

I first got started with Shotokan Karate, and then fell away from the Martial Arts. Years later I became involved with Doce Pares Escrima, and cross trained in Muay Thai.
As I got older I started looking for a style that involved a little less youthful athleticism, and was a bit more practically oriented for my aging frame.
That search led me to WW2 Combatives. I was lucky enough to meet and train with Carl Cestari for several years until he passed away in 2007.
I still train in WW2 Combatives and in some old school Jiu Jitsu (pre WW2)which is similar to the original Gracie Self Defense JJ.
I see that this particular sub-forum isn't too active, but if anyone here is, has been or would like to get involved with old school Combatives, I'd be happy to discuss it with you.

Sadly no subforum here is too active anymore.

I've never even heard of ''WW2 combatives'' would be curious if you can point me to some internet fountain of knowledge regarding it.

Damn, someone else is still here, I'd given up hope.
As for websites you could try;

http://www.gutterfighting.org/

https://www.facebook.com/spormangroupllc

Both are run by Carl Cestari's successor after Carl passed away. The system is based around the hand to hand methods taught during WW2 which included a combination of pared-down JiuJitsu with a heavy emphasis on Atemi-waza, as well as some some dirty-fighting techniques found in American and western European culture.

Thanks for responding, I'd pretty much given up on this place.

You know, it really doesn't help that it takes 2,3 or more days for a post to be approved and put up. I understand nobody wants spam or trolls, but this is absolutely ridiculous.

Wait a second, so now my post just went up immediately, but my last two posts with links to Combatives websites are still not up?

OK, let me try again to give you some reference websites:

The header says 3 other people are looking at this KM/Combatives sub-forum. No questions, comments, dirty jokes or off-color remarks???

Anything????

The approval thing is for your first posts only.

The header also looks at bots that are catalouging the forum (Google, Yahoo, whatever)

I'll take a look at your links when I get some time, always interesting to find new stuff, especially when it predates the MA movie craze period.
