can anyone help me identify this weapon? - 06/02/07 03:56 PM

Hi all, I'm new here, and also new to karate. I've been training since November 2006. I recently went to a tournament just to see how things were done. One young guy performed a weapons kata with a rather odd looking weapon. Even my sensei had no clue what it was. In one hand, the guy held a short, thick stick. In the other, he held a flat metal thing with three sharp points. (This is somewhat hard to describe. lol.) Can anyone help me based on just this pathetic description? If not, I'll try to explain it better. Thanks!

Could this be it? Not sure by the description.

Thanks for replying! And sorry my description sucks. That's not it, but I clicked on "Tekko" on that website, and I'm pretty sure that's it. So anyway, thank you very much for (indirectly) answering my question! I really appreciate it!

No problem! Tekko are normally used in pairs and can be as simple as just a stick (slightly longer than the width of a fist). Or more intricate designs with tapered or pointed ends and a point in the middle of the fist. Similar to the self-defense "keychains" you see sometimes.
