I have come to the idea that the following traditional weapons are practical, and will basically prepare a MA for any weapon scenario besides firearms.

What do you think?

Bo Jo Hanbo Jutte Tanto Chizikunbo

what about single and double short sticks like arnis / escrima / kali?

Given the choice I think I would opt for these over a bo [which is one of my favourite weapons] because I usually have them handy, whereas I don't often carry a 6ft bo about with me.

I agree. Bo techniques can be transferred to virtually any blunt weapon. Plus, most kobudo styles also include jo(4ft staff) and the short sticks similar to kali (can't remember the name for them). Training in tekko and yawara and various other fist loaded weapons can be transferred to any small item you pick up.

All this being said, Most koryu okinawan kobudo practitioners don't study it for practicality!
