Re: training vids - 06/07/06 03:24 AM

Welcome to my world

Both clips encapsulate pretty much what I do.

in the squatpress/chin up superset, those guys got more functional benefit in 4 minutes, than Rich franklin got in the hour he spent on that machine circuit.

Logs, tires, stones, sandbags, hammers- the best half hour you can have is in their company.

I am going to sticky this thread for a while, the links are that good, and that relevant to functional conditioning.

Re: training vids - 06/07/06 04:09 AM

lol i figured it was a matter of time before you would respond Cord seeing as how you are all about functional training.

I've been recently trying to balance my routines around more functional training alongside all my weight training, as I have found it to be a vital aspect in any type of martial arts training. For me these are just some of the videos I have come across that are not only motivational but also very insightful.

Hopefully we can get some more videos going with this thread.

Re: training vids - 06/08/06 05:42 AM

To put things in perspective, in clip 2, you see each guy complete 90 compound reps in 3 mins 18 seconds, in fact, the better of the two does it in 3 mins 6 seconds. that is very impressive. They are using a lot of body engagement in the chins, but seeing as how the concept behind the workout is total body engagement to generate power, I see no problem with that. i just cant wait to get to a gym to try this superset- i think I will puke

People interested in the second vid may want to check out their site at crossfit.com. They have a couple other routines and a pretty good Exercise Database with vids to go with them.

Some interesting things in there you can get ideas from, like moving the foot around slowly at hip height or adding resistance to kung fu techniques with bands.
I like the kicking techniques done hanging from a branch. It's like an insane progression from the standard hanging leg raise. His homemade training rig at the 2 minute mark is gold.

Here is an insane lifting video. The song is really cool until around 3:00 and after 4:00 but in between there it's kind of rough so oyu may want to turn it down or off.

Re: training vids - 09/20/06 12:58 PM

The first song is by Disturbed, I actually like this band. You should hear their remake of Tears for Fears's "Shout", excellently done. Other song(s) on this vid ... ??? (aweful)

Big boys and big lifts. The bigger lifters, these guys look like the typical power lifter, big and bulky and chubby. When I deadlift 400 lbs it is going to pale in comparison to these guys.

Re: training vids - 09/20/06 01:02 PM

Heck yeah, that's my favorite song to train to.
Yeah they are usually big and bulky, with a very square build. The smaller ones are even fat a lot or just not "ripped". Tal kabout strength though jeeze.

Love this song. My daughter use to call it the "Duck Song" as all she could make out was the "_uck" vocal.

Not really a training vid that this thread was meant for but I understand that you probably "workout" to this type of music.

Re: training vids - 11/17/06 05:57 PM

Yeah it's pretty sweet. sorry for posting it here, I just didn't have time to find the music threads (I'm at school in class) but yeah it's good to train to. I'm likin disturbed mucho.

Re: training vids - 12/22/06 12:51 PM

OK, I gave this one a seperate thread months and months ago, its time it found a stickied resting place here in honour of the release of 'Rocky Balboa'.

It is an advert of sorts, and I would remind all that 'instone' products are no more, or less effective than any other supplement range available.

The next time I read that somebody doesn't want to lift weight as they don't want to get slow, I'm pulling out this clip. Cro Cop doing leg presses, imagine that! He uses weights and kicks harder and faster then most people ... who would have guessed!
