All I can say is WOW…

(WCCO) Milaca, Minn. A tae kwon do instructor is nursing some broken ribs after going nose to nose with a black bear.
It was late Wednesday night when 18-year-old Dave Duea heard something rustling in a shed on the farm where he lives, near Milaca, Minn.
He investigated and heard some deep snorting before a figure came crawling out of the shadows. The next thing he knew, the figure had taken a swipe at his left leg, shredding his jeans from the pockets to his knee.
"I was thinking my leg's was going to be all torn out," he said.
Realizing it was a bear, his instincts kicked in and he utilized his training as a black-belt martial arts instructor.
"I turned and I just grabbed him by the neck," he said. "I think I had him right behind the ears. And he starts standing up, and he's wiggling his head all over, and he's batting with his front arms. I had my arms out. I was looking him square in the eyes, and he kind of stood up.
"And I saw his first paw come in, and I had to roll up my arm up to keep from getting hit," he continued. "I did not want to get hit in the head."
The bear stepped forward, and they both hit the floor.
"When we went down, I heard this popping sound," Duea recalled.
The bear disappeared, leaving Duea with two broken ribs.
"I've had some big guys land on me in martial arts and stuff," Duea said, "but this was nothing like anything I've ever felt."
Amazingly, Duea said this was his second close encounter with a bear. Two years ago, one got too close to his dog and he had to hit the bear to get rid of it.
