Is this fajing?

When i first started college a few months ago, I was already a practitioner of Taijiquan (wushu yang Beijing 24 style) for half a year. I tried a move called "fa jing (fa1 jing4)". I shook my hips violently like a hula dancer and then did single whip inadvertently into a tissue paper dispenser. All i remember is, I shut my eyes and then the next second the dispenser had been miraculously split into two halves. LOL.

All i want to know is, is this fajing, or is it a dumber version of the karate chop used on a 10-year-old tissue dispenser?

Hello NathanZhang

<<Is this fajing?

How will you know fajing if/when you encounter it? (And while we're on the topic...) Please explain what you understand fajing to be? Jing, meaning energy-power I assume but how would you translate this "fajing" better into English???

The best translation would be "explosive power"

Hello Aoishi:

Ok, and this "explosive power" is different from what ~normal~ (?) power how?

The answer might have something to do with dynamite or gunpowder.

We've all had some experiences in the bathroom that would fit into the "explosive power" category. My advice would be to stay away from foods that are real spicy and or greasy. Also don't trust the water in foriegn countries.

Good luck with all that.

Wait, so you inadvertently threw out a whip? My advice would be to refrain from any futher hula dancing, and avoid any luaus. In all seriousness though, I'm pretty sure nobody can tell you whether or not you used fa-jing properly with just the description you gave us. For all we know you could have stood there vibrating your body around for five minutes before throwing out that whip. The "shaking" is meant to be a fast back-forward-back or back-forward-forward sort of a motion, depending on whether you are you are putting or pulling energy.
Oh, and for anyone who was wondering:Fa-Jing
