Working the tie up

As I am sure most of you know, most grapplers are very show me don't tell me kind of people. So when our coach was showing us how to defend fom an ankle pick while in the tie up, he and the other coach tied up and began to work the tie up, all the whie making sure to keep their feet far enough back so that the other wouldn't be able to grab his ankle, then as the were doing this, they both jumped at the same time. Hard to describe really but they went from being positioned like this / to being positioned like this -- with each line representing one of them. Well when they landed we just stared for a second until one of them said owch. It was funny to see, but now looking back at what I've written I realize I'm a bad storyteller.
