District 13 - 10/13/06 01:27 AM

I am sure I remember a thread on this, but couldn't find it.
Basicaly an sort of update on 'Escape from New York' where Eye patches and Isaac Hayes have been traded for Paris and Parkour (free running).
like ong bak, it has no wire work, and the action scenes are pretty darned good. I was expecting the Parkour to be well done, but its worth mentioning the fight choreography is pretty sharp also. The first fight the police 'good guy' has in the casino is red hot.
Worth a rent, but once the initial 'wow' factor burns out, I cant see me watching it repeatedly- the plot and acting are a bit weak to sustain it.
Good fun though.
What did you guys think?

Here is "one" of the orginal links listed as "District B13"

Just watched it this Wednesday night. I didn't like that I had to watch the movie dubbed to English but after I got over that it was okay. The resident District 13 guy and the undercover cop were pretty descent and it entertained me for the time but not enough to make me ever watch it again. You are correct about the acting skills especially at the end ... but acting skills were not ever the main purpose of this movie which is obvious.

I missed out on a valuable chance to do some practice with David Belle at the premiere, oh well. The film is good the first time around, afterwards I can only really listen to the music, which means alot coming from a Luc Besson fanboy.
