Daily Quote - 06/17/05 01:24 PM

Here is the deal. Every day I will post a quote from an MA movie.Your Job is to guess from which movie it comes. First to answer correctly gets a point. warning my definition of an MA movie may at times be controversial or obscure, but it wouldnt be much of a competition if it was easy would it?
I will run this for a week as a trial, maybe longer if you like it.

Day 1. 'I used to fvck guys like you in prison!'

So, I have to plan this. I hit Daily Zen before work, check the Movie Quote on my 15 minute break, breeze through chat before lunch, make the rounds again afterwards. Flirt my way through the afternoon...

...Razorfoot is right...I don't work anymore!

Re: Daily Quote - 06/17/05 02:23 PM

Eh, I don't work until about 3pm most days. I do this while watching tv and doing other things.

Oops, time to get ready for work...

Re: Daily Quote - 06/17/05 06:35 PM

are we allowed to make our own challenges...I have one...I love this quote:

"Your technique is magnificent.
When cut across the neck a sound like whaling winter winds is heard they say.
I’d always hoped to cut someone like that some day.
To hear that sound.
But, to have it happen to my own neck is ridiculous."

Re: Daily Quote - 06/22/05 09:59 AM

Hey...is this the thread where I can FINALLY get the answer to a burning question? For my edification, can anyone tell me where this saying came from?

"We don't need no stinking...(I think the word used here is 'invitation')."

Thanks!

Re: Daily Quote - 06/22/05 10:18 AM

I have heard a similar quote. "Badges!?, we dont need no stinking badges!" It came from Blazing Saddles.

Re: Daily Quote - 06/22/05 10:28 AM

Hmmm... Day 2 tickles the front part of my brain a little...

I want to say Clint Eastwood, maybe?

Another clue, please?

Re: Daily Quote - 06/22/05 10:49 AM

Ok, I know Day 2 now. I cheated, (Google) so I won't post it.

Instead, I'll contribute a quote.

"To save a life in defeat is to earn victory and honor within."
Posted by: Cord

Re: Daily Quote - 06/22/05 11:26 AM

Razorfoot, that quote- it torments me I want to say crouching Tiger, but I know I am wrong. Is it an Old Shaw Brothers kung-fu Movie, 36 chambers of Shaolin perhaps?

Zombiezero, most people google for quizes here ('hoodat' is a prime example) so feel free to post your answer.

Another clue for day 2, in case others have a moment of enlightenment.

Nope, that's not it. Not sure if it was Shaw Brothers but about the same style and time frame as most of their big films.
Here is another from the same movie "Allow me to demonstrate the skill of Shaolin, the secret technique of shadow boxing"

Just when you think the Internet has every possible topic covered...
Harlan...the word is 'badges'
I almost wrote that this came from Saturday Night Live (thats where I first heard it), but then I looked it up:

1948 Humphrey Bogart movie, "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre."

"Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges!"

Re: Daily Quote - 06/22/05 01:27 PM

I had first heard it in Blazing Saddles, but I stand corrected. Good research Kintama.

Your prize is you get to tell me where your darn quotes come from!

As champion, would you like to take over as quizmaster for the week? its not compulsory, but if it would please you to do so, just post and I will 'pass the baton' so to speak.

Budoc is a he. I guess with a first name like Christian, it could go either way.

And then I sign off with my surname. Yeah that definately sounds like a chick.

Maybe folks get confused because I have such a strong sensitive side
