Training Manuals...

I have just finished reading through a copy of "Chinese Martial Arts Training Manuals: A Historical Survey" by Brian Kennedy & Elizabeth Guo. The book discusses the content and layout of historical "kung-fu manuals" and it got me thinking about some of the more modern martial arts books I have seen on bookshelves these days, not just on Kung-Fu, but for many martial arts from many different countries. My question was, for any art, what would be the contents of the "ideal training manual"? So, I was curiouse to know what you guys would look for in an ideal martial arts manual?
