Shotokan Karate - A Precise History by Harry Cook - 11/28/04 12:04 PM

Anyone read this title? What did you think?
I'm thinking of purchasing a copy for Dad/Sensei for Christmas. It's a beautiful book and, based on the reviews, it promises to be quite an interesting read, but at $75 a copy, I was hoping for a little more personal feedback.

Thanks,

David

I thought this was an interesting book. Buy it for the collector reason if no other.

I loved this book as a referance tool. But it's a tough read straight thru, as the beginning is really dry.
The information inside is top notch and gave me some good insights, and Cook has a TON of notations and references. My favorite part is that it's absolutely unbiased, and he exposes the political side of martial arts in its early days.
