What do you think of the new book on Daito Ryu as the basis for Aikido? I'm not asking if its true I wonder about the quality of the techniques shown within the book. Are they good and solid? Does the rest of the Daito Ryu folk like the book? What's the general opinion?

I'm assuming you mean the book "Hidden Root's of Aikido" by Omiya. I posted some comments about this and several other books on another thread in this forum.

IMHO, "Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu: Conversations with Daito-ryu Masters" edited by Stanley Pranin is really the best book on Daito-ryu available in the States in English.
