TKD offically a Commonwalth Games Sport - 07/19/10 02:50 PM

TKD has been classed as a Category 2 sport, which means in future it could be included in the Commonwealth Games. Apparently only Kyorugi (sp?) is included in the Games, just as in the Olympics.

Any thoughts on this?

Funny with all the ITF schools in the UK its still WTF sparring that makes it to these events. 2018 is an awful long way out though.

True that. That said, I think England has two WTF TKD players ranked at the top in the world at the moment. With the 2012 Olympics heading to London, there is a big push to improve most Olympic sports.

Here in Northern Ireland, the TAGB, ITF and WTF clubs all work together to improve TKD. It's very encouraging to see. They all support each other in terms of getting government funding and improving their athletes: http://www.tani.org.uk/
