Chung Do Kwan school in Los Angeles?

Hello all! I'm new to this forum, so please allow me to introduce myself. I have studied tae kwon do for 11 years at the Tae Park Rugh Institute in Norman, Oklahoma, and have achieved the rank of 1st dan black belt.

I will soon be moving to Los Angeles, California. I am looking for a tae kwon do school in this area that practices Chung Do Kwan, since it's what I'm most familiar with.

Does anyone know a reputable institute? I've been Googling around, but results have been sparse and frequently out of date...

1st off let me welcome you to the forum & wish you luck not only on finding a new school, but on such a big move period.

Now I am not sure what is meant by a Chung Do Kwan school. To me Chung Do kwan was an early, if not 1st Korean karate civilian school. The kwans were officially retired in Aug of 1978. The 3rd kwanjangnim was instrumental in setting up the KKW & WTF. So it may be easier to list the type of school, ie - one that is affiliated with the US CDK Assoc. I am not sure there would be much standardization from 1 school to another, unless they were aligned with a particualr group.

I found a website the school Rainstar mentions comes under (even though it isn't listed on the website):

It says Mr Park was Vice President of US Chung Do Kwan. They only seem to have 2 schools in California:

It also mentions Mr Park is a 9th Dan with the WTF. I don't know what the Chung Do Kwan syllabus is or how much relates to WTF requirements, but there are probably going to be similarities. If you are stuck, maybe finding a good WTF school might might help.

What group are you affiliated with. Who is you instructor and/or Grand Master ?

I'm not affiliated with any of the links. I live in the Kansas City area.

If you do a search under the name IcemanSK you can find a Chung Do Kwan teacher that is under Edward Sell's group. Iceman is located just north of Hollywood.
